Excellent restaurant just next to the Xaghra church. Perfect service, very nice staff and fish to die for. We had a linguine with rizzi which was the best I ever had, the seafood platter is gorgeous and they make a very interesting and good ceviche with lampuki. Kids had meat cooked in a salt crust which was also very good with some very tasty salts and sauces. Worth leaving space for dessert. We will definitely be back.

We came to Gozo specifically for this restaurant to have lunch. We were a little disappointed with the raw platter we ordered - unfortunately, as a huge seafood lover, I didn’t feel the plates were fresh enough. However, the two main dishes were absolutely delicious, and the portions are very generous. The only drawback is the temperature: with it being 30°C + outside, it would be much more comfortable if there were a fan or air conditioning to help keep the place cool.

We have had a really good 7 course tasting menu. The waiters were attentive and friendly. The price for the menu plus wine pairing was insanely cheap: 55 € for the menu and 45 € for the wine pairing with Maltesian wines. Bring time, be hungry and enjoy the setting preferably outside in this picturesque little square. Our hightlight of the menu was a fish soup with muzzles. The one course that truley deserves a michelin star.

May 2026 On our first night in Xaghra, we were looking for a lovely place to eat and came across Al Sale right in the beautiful square. We stopped to look at the menu and were immediately drawn to their 8-course tasting menu (7+ dessert) Priced at around €55, we thought it was excellent value, so we decided to give it a try—and what a wonderful choice it was!

We enjoyed it so much that we returned later that week for another equally unforgettable meal. The staff were fantastic, the chef was brilliant, and the food was absolutely delicious—do take a look at our photos to see for yourself!

Right now, the restaurant strikes a great balance, offering great value for everyday diners. However, if you’re looking for luxury, you can easily spend hundreds: they have an impressive wine list, and the caviar menu alone could set you back over £100.

My only note of caution is that I suspect prices may rise significantly soon, which could change how accessible it is. I hope I’m wrong, but my advice is: go now! At the moment, two people can enjoy an outstanding meal with drinks for between £99 and £140.

To the owners, of course things have to gently increase from time to time due to inflation etc but, you have something really special here, please don't make it un-affordable for the discerning but average tourist. We love your offering right now!

This is a really special place. We had the fish tasting menu. You need about 3 hours for this and it is a taste experience! Everything was utterly delicious and the staff were friendly professional and full of fun. What a wonderful night.
