Rubino

Fantastic, traditional Maltese restaurant. They focus on the food, and it shows. Extensive menu, every dish explained perfectly before we ordered.

I’m so happy that I went there! Was such a special night and the people that work in this place they ar amazing, lovely and with a fast pace service which in Malta is rare. We had everything that we could. Don’t remembered the name of the foods but I will add the photos. Definitely recommend for a Maltese experience.

We visited Rubino, which was recommended by Robert Makłowicz, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation.

We came in with a baby and were immediately made to feel welcome. The staff even mentioned they had just made potatoes and asked if we’d like unsalted mashed potatoes for the baby, which was such a thoughtful and kind gesture.

We started with the chicken liver, which was top-notch — beautifully prepared and full of flavour.

For mains, both of us wanted the same dish (sea bass), and instead of just taking the order, the waiter suggested we choose another dish as well and then served us half of each so we could try both. That level of care and confidence in the food really stood out.

Everything was cooked to perfection and served exactly as it should be. The service was genuinely lovely from start to finish, attentive without being intrusive.

A fantastic experience all around. Proper hospitality and excellent food — we’ll definitely be back.

Great atmosphere, food and service. While
booking a table we informed that we are vegetarian and during dinner we received multiple options along with the dish outside the card (mushrooms with eggplant) prepared by Chef just for us. Braised artichokes and risotto rosmarino were absolutely amazing and were our two favorites. But caponata and mushrooms were also great.

This former pastry shop has gained a reputation as a high end restaurant over the last 20-30 years and due to its central location in Valletta it is difficult to expect a table without booking ahead, which our party thankfully did. All diners are given the manager’s briefing on the contents of the day’s menu, so one is well informed on what’s available on the off. My steamed octopus was on the chewy side but very tasty, and while the fried rabbit was excellent. The attention we received from the manager was first class and we ate and drank till late, finishing off with a Gozitan carob liquor offered on the house. Pricing is not cheap, but the service levels and food quality can explain this.
